Downer Cow

Don’t be such a downer cow they say

Come join in all the reindeer games we play

Don’t you dare ask who moved your cheese

We own you and do with you as we please

We’ve got you now, so assimilate

Give up your soul and you’re sure to be great

Submit completely or blackballed you’ll be

Go ahead and leave, after all you’re free

Bribery made us you sovereign lords

Representation goes to who can best afford

So no amount of votes will get the people far

Impirio in imperium we are

Don’t be such a downer cow they say

There is more life force to squeeze out of your day

For your damages we need not pay

For isn’t it the downer cow they slay

Cold Light of Day

I used to think I was the only one
evermore under the gun
And had to self induce mania
just to get through each day

Now I see that others do it too
With what they smoke
or drink or pop or chew
to push the trauma out of the way

Until foolishness floods the land
So many pretty houses built on sand
And when calamity strikes
It’s so hard to understand

It simply can not stay
The same old goddamn way
Once we’ve seen this world
Under the cold light of day

A knack for breeding in captivity
Or rather were we bred selectively
Spiritually abused and indoctrinated
In order to serve and plough under the yoke?

And so they keep the mass guilty
Reminded of their own redundancy
Until they forget the feelings
Of a wild and roaming liberty

And so on and on the cycle goes
As inevitable as the storm that blows
Away the sands on which we’ve
built this house and this charade

It simply can not stay
The same old goddamned way
Once we’ve seen this world

Under the cold light of day

Jubilee

Hey, it’s a national shame
A great hypocrisy
Even a peculiar institution
Updated for the modern day

Under the thumb of subjugation
These generations are just trying to be
The myth we were taught to believe in
That we had the right to be free

But it’s not that simple in practice
With stumbling block of a guilt complex
Told to do better than those before us
With this millstone around our necks

Hey, Heyyyyyyeee!

Olly Olly Oxen Free
Olly Olly Oxen Free
That’s the way that the world should be
Like the year of the Jubilee

Under the thumb of subjugation
These generations are just trying to be
The myth we were taught to believe in
That we had the right to be free

Ignorant; we were cheated
Asleep, we’ve been surprised
Divided; the yoke has been forced upon us
Heavily laden; lest we might try to rise

Too late once we became enlightened
Now awake to the fraudulence
Many factions find themselves united
Disobedient but ever vigilant

Hey, Heyyyyyyeee!

Olly Olly Oxen Free
Olly Olly Oxen Free
That’s the way that the world should be

Like the year of the Jubilee

Brutish Desideratum

'Tis not for light nor transient cause
Usurpation under guise of law
Peaceful petitions now de facto banned
Redress of grievances left to common hands
Hearts were hardened against the people's call
Arrogance set the mighty up for a fall

A little rebellion now and again
'tis like a storm in the atmosphere
for the Tree of Liberty must
be watered from time to time

A little rebellion now and then
Necessary medicine
better a dangerous liberty than
living as if in the stillness of the grave

When patient sufferance eventually proves
contrary to rights inalienable
The Laws of Nature hold
That some social bonds must dissolve

A machine not quite so blind as balls and bombs
be we martyred, keep our memories embalmed
For necessity impress by Nature's call
By duty's spur our souls absolved

Rather than bind our posterity under subjugation
Better half the world come to desolation
After all, what has artifice improved upon
the innocence manners of Eden.

A little rebellion now and again
'tis like a storm in the atmosphere
for the Tree of Liberty must
be watered from time to time

A little rebellion now and then
Necessary medicine
better a dangerous liberty than
living as if in the stillness of the grave

Parasite

You ask why I'm turning to skin and bones
Got a parasite!
If I'm this young, why do I feel so old
Got a parasite!

Its against the law not to have a home
So better pay your rent or beg for a loan
Either way--You got another... of many parasites!

They build everything so you can't walk to there from here.
They do it for the parasites.
If you pay for a license, they've got a road to go 'round the mess.
Pay it to the parasite!

Put you to work and make you pay for it
two and three jobs to a worker, because they won't hire for shit.
Just build more gilded fences to keep out the starving poor.
Don't let them see... the boated parasites!

They'll keep you working until your final hour.
Because corporations are the new Slave Power!
What medicine rids mankind...of such parasites?

Hymn for Thanatos

Whatever it takes to make the grade; put it into yourself,
because Thanatos is your friend...

Don't be afraid to work, without concern for yourself!
Thanatos is your friend...

Earn enough, so you can drive a dead sexy fast ride,
because Thanatos is your friend...

No thought of consequence; spread your seed far and wide!
Thanatos is your friend...

No need to strap in, ride bareback instead!
You're a rodeo clown on an atomic warhead!
A true patriot! So American!
One nation under Thanatos! And if you're not in, you're a Red!

You can have the greenest lawn--a symbol of your power
Without any interloping, goddamned yellow flowers

Rub it in your neighbor's face, he's your competition.
You're fulfilling capitalism's sacred mission.

And Thanatos... is oh, so pleased with you!

Your children roll around in grass doused with toxin,
but just take them to the church that the rest of the flock's in.
Take that two hour dose of banality,
a sure-fire cure for fear of reality!

Thanatos is your friend...

Curse the different folks, because of their lifestyles,
but don't question why the sheep are so fat.
You'll understand if you believe with a smile,
Thanatos just likes them like that.

He'll soon bring us home, he promises,
and the way we live--no time at all
You too can have that personal relationship,
and soon you'll hear Thanatos' call...

Because Thanatos is your friend!
Oh, yes, tell it brother!
Thanatos is your friend!
Hallelujah!
Thanatos is your friend!
The End!

Accomplices

We live in an exceptional country
A whitewashed tomb shining atop a great hill
Our public days of prayer, itemized deductions show care
For the mountain of bones hidden bellow the fill

And still we elect these so called leaders
the best candidates for public service positions
as they tell us fairy tales, wear fake halos like veils
to hide the decayed face of perdition.

I think we may be their accomplices
For we know that their crime is great
Can we put away this childish thing, rightly called pretense
Before the time is too late

This is an exceptional country
A whitewashed tomb upon a great hill
Raise your hands, praise and rant, to the cymbal's crash
Vainly hope Rapture comes, before the devil brings us the bill

The Shaving Mill

From wretched masses you seek refuge
They'd but drudgery to fill their days
But living behind your tall iron fence
Indeed you're a greater slave than they

Reaction is inevitable
It has happened in every age
Desperation builds till it explodes
To free you from your gilded cage

Without mysticism you supposed
there would be no day of reckoning
Mob judged by their own unwritten code
Now cruel harvester is beckoning

They built this shaving mill
to execute the people's will
Now heads roll and blood spill
Runoff from the shaving mill

Mankind works by the laws of nature
The mob ungulates like waves from heat
But this is no mirage before you
as you trudge forward on tired feet

Jeers descend from ev'ry direction
So many years they stored up their hate
To be an object of mockery
Was their lot; now it's become your fate

Without mysticism you supposed
there would be no day of reckoning
Mob judged by their own unwritten code
Now cruel harvester is beckoning

They built this shaving mill
to execute the people's will
Now heads roll and blood spill
Runoff from the shaving mill

In fevered sweat violently awake
Just a dream was your reckoning day
Perhaps time left to build your police state
but it's easier to change your ways

The Outer Darkness

Don't trust the commercial lie that its controversial
We were born morally upright even from the very start
As highly evolved mammals, we're empathic animals
One might say that nature's law was written upon our hearts

Until a few random defects spawned the odd psychopath
Hatched civilization as so many sinister plots
Took advantage of innocence, taught pack intolerance
nurture passed down misanthropy until love was forgot

Superstition burning behind an impregnable door
Powering the engine for unconscionable horror
Their machine separated mankind on it's threshing floor
When it broke the common bond they called the product war
a cacophony rising up as gears churn out the gore
Why must those teeth keep gnashing evermore!?!

It came to the attention of those who pulled the levers
That even superstition left bonds that need be severed
To thresh them more thoroughly they needed turn the tables
Infused superstition with egotistical fables

Dropped just enough crumbs to entice a clamor for status
saddled us with weight of the world, then said "call me Atlas!"
For the cost of your life you you might ascend one rung of rank
If you enjoy life perpetually guarding your flank

Lustful hubris burned behind a brightly glowing red door
Boiling the steam for their unimaginable horror
To exchange devalued beings upon their trading floor
Ever pitting man against man and wagered on the score
A cacophony rising up as gears ground down the poor
Why must those teeth keep gnashing evermore!?!

Chemicals helped keep the moving parts lubricated
Because even cogs had consciences to be placated
To turn a deaf ear as spilled blood cried out remonstrances
So that we might pretend not to all be accomplices

As machinery aged, fear and greed were not still sufficient
They found incendiaries volatile but efficient
Eventually the machine couldn't handle the stress
Cogs fell apart amid an unrecognizable mess

The inferno spread outward unrestrained by the great door
Science foretold plainly that indescribable horror
Warnings issued in vain for mere cogs were bound to ignore
Ashes fell from the sky and creosote lapped at the shore
Night and day became blackness like never before
At least those teeth aren't gnashing.. anymore...

Death by Misadventure

Hanging about in the graveyard of empires
We start to wonder how we got here.
It happened through adventurism.
And public apathy in the face of fear.

Our taxes went to training the zealots
On the plains of Afghanistan
Even the one called the Ace of Spades
In those days he was our man

The enemy of our enemy
Was our friend, we were seeing red
Years later that adventurism
Left thousands in lower Manhattan dead.

Death... by misadventure
Self infliction is tragedy
Death by misadventure
Another lesson for history

After adventurism burned us
Nothing left to do but double down
Another bad friend from the eighties
Season ripe to reap what we'd sown

We fought for freedom of the Iraqi people
Shiites to cut their sons on the head
Kurds free to circumcise their daughters
With just hundreds of thousands left dead

Death... by misadventure
Decider created anarchy
Death by misadventure
Another lesson for history

After many years of adventure
There is trouble down at treasury
Debt piled up like stockpiles of swords
When what's wanting are plowshares and seed

Seems the experiment's come full circle
From the blood of the Bourbon king
Whose adventurism sealed his demise
And gave birth to this murderous spree

Market Day

Inspired by an account of what happened to a Guatemalan village during the 1980's.

Soldiers came into town
on their Market Day
Freedom fighters for the
American way
Set fire to all of their
fields of standing grain
Took the men and boys out
and blew them away
Next for women and girls
after they had their way
sent them down the village well
to a mass grave

There was no black or white back then
against red, all turned to gray
we wrote out the invoice and
left the innocent to pay
The sad truth is we sold them out
...on market day

To secretly fund the thugs
who embraced our side
a monopoly for drugs
tangling webs grew wide
Evil empires have to tell
their own people lies
like scandalous gangsters
exchanging drive-bys
collateral damage mounted
how many lost lives?
maybe even God lost count
if our stars aligned!

There was no black or white back then
against red, all turned to gray
we wrote out the invoice and
left the innocent to pay
The sad truth is we sold them out
...on market day

Machinations

You are an object to be evaluated
worthless unless assimilated
fruitful for us, but otherwise castrated
we'll stoke your desires, impossibly sated

We teach you to not know a thing
lest you find out that you're just
a cock fighting in the ring
Just a fool for our amusement
Willing to shed your blood
so you can pay your many rents

You were so young when
we sold you the dream
Now forever tied
to this nightmare machine

Our every machination
is geared for your exsanguination

We'll rule over every nation
reveling in their tribulation!

You are just a cog in our machine
freely discarded once no longer pristine
we build up temptation to fuel you
but insist you stay clean

You have the instincts of an animal
We'll abolish empathy and exploit them all
We teach you to ravage your prey
no use for conscience, it gets in the way
So we set up ritual in its place
learn to perform the sacrifice
and appreciate the taste

You were so young when
we sold you the dream
Now forever tied
to this nightmare machine

Our every machination
is geared for your exsanguination

Our lust for domination
Will end in global damnation

Industrial Homicide

Deep water, oil well
Drilling halfway down to hell
they broke the law and workers died
Industrial homicide!
The same standard that applies to you and me
should apply to the captains of industry
Prison if our negligence leaves another dead
For them a golden parachute instead.

They break the laws and people die
Industrial homicide!
No vengeance for innocent blood
A sacrifice for the corporate good

A proud laborer nears his death
Now his hardest labor, every single breath
Made his living without causing trouble
by the sweat of his brow and a tear-off shovel
He had work ethic and misplaced trust
They never told him what was in the dust
A filter mask and his life would be saved
Instead that work ethic dug his grave

We have a right to know, but evil ones lied
Industrial homicide!
No vengeance for innocent blood
A sacrifice to the corporate good

A homestead family flees from doom
Death lurks in the manure lagoons
Their water rights were established first
Now left with poison to quench their thirst
Their petitions to be free from harm
only attract goons from the industrial farm
County commissioners paid to preside
over industrial homicide!
There is no rule of law anymore
Just a machine to churn the gore

All around, the neighbors died
Industrial homicide!
No vengeance for innocent blood
sacrificed for the corporate good

Poisoned gas; it's a red line.
Unless a job creator did it this time.
When it was used in the Great War
Yanks went over there to settle the score.
Even this century, they hanged Saddam Hussein
but here at home the rules just aren't the same!

How many more must die
before we punish industrial homicide?
If our servants can't be made to legislate
time build a shaving mill and reciprocate!

Fuel for Superstition

A man whose only hope is hereafter
conditioned from youth for this disaster
Sweat pour down as he walks to his fate.
moving stiffly; his chest bound with stiff tape,
through what some call Holy Land; some Zion.
Whose enemies turned his body into a bomb.

Abandoned conscience for the sake of mission.
A soul tormented by distorted visions.
A life discharged like ammunition.
More fuel for superstition!

Propaganda proclaims God and nation.
Young minds fed ceaseless indoctrination
accept their fate in a foreign land,
to profit the cunning, cowardly man.
Stone slabs pay homage to Kings' bishops' pawns.
Sacrificed upon the alter of Mammon

Abandoned conscience. Prostituted mission.
To fulfill vainglorious politicians.
Young lives consumed like ammunition.
More fuel for superstition!

How long must humanity hang upon this cross of atrocity.
Repressed bodies close minds to just reciprocity,
fueling the inferno below with zealous ferocity.
Our descent reaching terminal velocity

Once the struggle of distorted visions
finally ends this cycle of attrition.
Mankind consumed like ammunition.
Spent fuel for superstitions!

Process Due (dedicated to the victims of the increasingly violent police-state)

The way he was raised turned his heart hard
and left his mind testosterone scarred

He learned to enjoy seeing others cry
his worst instincts became amplified

Not much for labor or serving customers
so he chose to become society's curse

Not much for reasoning or using his head
he took the oath and pinned on a badge instead

He feels so at home under a darkened sky
So no one sees the gleam in his delinquent eye

I wouldn't trust him even to mow my lawn
Why should we trust him with a gun and baton

We are all equal before the law. In theory that is true
But is there any law at all when the anarchists wear blue?
Process due! So long overdue...

A call comes from dispatch one fateful night
Mistaken identity. prejudiced fright

He arrives on scene chan'ling Dirty Harry
That night the Rule of Law would be disparaged

Salivated stalking his prey into a store
beat his helpless victim until down to the floor

the thrill of killing is all that he lives for
His blood is pumping now he feels engorged!

We are all equal before the law. In theory that is true
But is there any law at all when the anarchists wear blue?
Process due! So long overdue...

Backup helps finish the kill then congregate
bask in the afterglow and get stories straight
good old boys at precinct look the other way
hoping for a taste of that action someday

Cheif lies to the press and the citizenry
Honor among swine is no greater than theives

cover for each other like corrupt brothers
bad fruit in the bushel rotting the others

We are all equal before the law. In theory that is true
But is there any law at all when the anarchists wear blue?
Process due! So long overdue...

every day that passes
deferring just retribution

testifies to non-stop
systemic collusion

if we can't stop self-appointed
judges and executioners

then it is about goddamned time
we started a revolution here!
