Public Servant

You never thought that you'd be hired
But tragically the fates conspired
Or rather too many bumpkins
are too primitively wired

But now you're on the hook, it's true.
There's no recourse; who can you sue?
The gig is up, you'll be exposed.
The emperor has no clothes.

Don't dare tell us lies! You're the public servant!
Don't you patronize! You're the public servant!
It ain't gonna fly! No, public servant!
It's not a game of disguise! No, public servant!

And we ain't gonna take... No lip... from the help!
No, no, no, no... we ain't gonna take no lip from the help!

You've got a real job for once, you'd better get your sleep
Don't let us catch you up, sending late-night tweets
For disunion looms, you whiny little bitch,
Torches and pitchforks, not trumped-up bullshit!

For your sovereign will take you to task
We the people command; we won't kindly ask
We won't accept your promise of so many Acts
of Tyranny, without a Mask

Don't dare tell us lies! You're the public servant!
Don't you patronize! You're the public servant!
It ain't gonna fly! No, public servant!
It's not a game of disguise! No, public servant!

And we ain't gonna take... No lip... from the help!
No, no, no, no... we ain't gonna take no lip from the help!

"Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for the profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men: Therefore the people alone have an incontestible unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it." -- Constitution of Massachusettes (1780)
